ClearReplica is a custom add-on to the IBM Rational Software ClearCase product. It provides geographically disjoint development as a less expensive alternative to ClearCase MultiSite. ClearReplica provides many of the replication features of ClearCase MultiSite as well as additional features.

ClearReplica 7.0 - 7.1 adds:

• Select Label Metadata "replication" Adminstrators can select the label metadata they want "replicated" to improve performance add flexability on what is shared with remote sites.
• Extended Transport Mechanisms Added several Transport Mechanisms to its automatic packet transport capability.
• Faster and Smaller Packet building Modified package creation so that packages are both smaller and faster to build and ship.
• Automatic Error Notification Clear can automatically email one or more administrators when there are “Replication” errors or warnings.

Clearreplica 6.0 added the powerful and often requested ability to run multiple shipper process in parallel, even from different machines to increase the ability to use available CPU and improve performance.

With ClearReplica you can replicate or deploy from:

• whole VOBs
• "portions" of VOBs
• single or select files
• single or select branches
• multiple VOBs in to single VOBs
• single VOBs to multiple VOBs and
• VOBs to other VOBs within the same ClearCase region
• ClearCase Lite VOBs

These options allow more flexibility to create on-line backup VOBs and staging or distribution VOBs.

ClearReplica even allows automated "Deployment" from ClearCase VOBs to regular file systems on both local and remote machines across the globe (even non-ClearCase installed clients). Use "replication triggers" to automate the installation of "deployed" software on remote machines.

If total control of your ClearCase enterprise is what you want and you wish to bring policy to the enterprise level then dive into ClearTrigger. With ClearTrigger you can define triggers that are automatically and instantly defined for all VOBs (or just a few if you prefer). Associate triggers with additional metadata types like times, views, groups, VOBs, elements, replicas or even use pattern matching for any of the types. Use functionality bits to get the most popular trigger functionality without having to write any trigger code. ClearTrigger even makes about 30 extra ClearTrigger environmental variables available for your use in triggers so won't have to write code to calculate these common requested values (i.e VOB_owner Is_replicated, Is_Project_VOB, Is_Web_User, VOB_primary_group).

ClearTrigger ClearTrigger is aware of ClearReplica "Class" files that enable ClearReplica to run multiple ClearReplica Shippers and Receivers in parallel, even across distributed machines from heterogeneous architectures. This leads to faster performance for packet creation and processing.
  
  
• Performance Improvements for Label Creation. ClearTrigger was changed to now allow you to optionally avoid ClearTrigger processing for ClearCase label application
  
  
• Command Key Ignore List provides even more granular control over when Triggers fire or don't fire.
  
  
• Functionality Bit Application Aliases provide more granular control over when Functionality Bits fire.

ClearWeb received a minor patch to 7.0.2 to fix two small defects in the Graphical VTree Browser.
